Helping Herts Coronation Walk - Ian and Friends of The Hertfordshire Way
I will be walking the 195 miles of the Hertfordshire Way over the 15 days between 29th April and 13th May and will be joined by other Friends on various sections of the route. We will be raising funds for the Hertfordshire Child Welfare Charities.

May 14, 2023, 5:01:48 AMOur Final day and a fantastic turnout of 18 people. Another chilly morning with a brisk pace to get us all warmed up. This section is perhaps the least populated part of the route passing through Little Hormead and Rotten Row before a coffee break at Patients End. A short break at Patmore Heath then onto to Hadham Hall for a late lunch stop. Arrived in Bishop's Stortford a bit ahead of "schedule" so took time outside the Touist Information Centre for some publicity videos. Arrived on time at BS station to a great reception. Tea and scones at Jim and Janes house. Our thanks to everyone who supported us. A great time was had by all
Day 14 - Royston to Hare Street (12.6mi)
May 13, 2023, 5:13:28 AMAnother good turn out with 12 people turning out for our penultimate leg to Hare Street. A chilly start for the day with the wind coming from the north. We were met by the Royston Mayor, Mary Anthony, at the Royse Stonewho walked with us through the park and saw us on our way to Hare Street. The rain started soon after leaving outskirts of the town and we arrive at Reed Church a bit bedraggled for our coffee and Tunnocks. A pretty wet morning session to The Woodman at Nuthampstead for our lunch, drink and cake. Afternoon session was in drying conditions passing through Anstey, Daws End and Great Hormead before finishing in Hare Street at about 4pm.
Day 13 - Wallington to Royston (11.4 mi)
May 12, 2023, 6:09:13 AMA good turnout today with a total of 12 humans and 3 dogs. Welcome to representatives from HYH and Keech. Some muddy conditions today after all the rain of the previous couple of days. Early coffee stop at Sandon with a visit to the church to see the Coronation decorations. Lunch at the Fox and Duck - thanks to Gordon for the drinks. Some fine views over south Cambs when we arrived at Church Hill. Unfortunately the Pasque Flowers were past their best. Finished at the Royce Stone about 3.30pm. Some of us went onto to The Manor House for refreshments.
Day 12 - Little Wymondley to Wallington (12.8mi)
May 12, 2023, 5:54:22 AMAnother good days walking lead by Richard. Coffee stop at Graveley church then on through Forster Country to Weston for our well deserved lunch break. A short detour to visit Jsck ‘O Legs grave then onto to Clothall before finishing at Wallington just after 3.30. For the second day running the storms arrived just after we got into out cars. I haerd later from our Richard that the heavens opened whilst walking on his way home.
Day 11 - Codicote to Little Wymondley (9.8 mi)

May 9, 2023, 6:12:22 AMHeading east now without our first stop at Sandridge for a 10th birthday celebration for two of our young walkers. Lunch by the River Lea at Wheathampstead. Short break to view the Palladium Church at Ayot St. Lawrence then onto to the finish at Codicote. More cake and congratulations to all our young walkers.
Day 9 - Markyate to St Albans Abbey (10.5 miles)
May 8, 2023, 4:15:17 AMA relative relaxing day with a lunchtime stop at Redbourn Church. Our thanks to the church hall members who provided tea and coffee and the use of their facilities. Afternoon was a pleasant walk down the Ver Valley through the Verulam Estate and onto to the Abbey.

May 5, 2023, 5:03:57 AMSome respite today after our longest day. Morning break just beyond Ashridge Estate. Lunch break at the Amaravati Buddhist https://amaravati.org ) - someone was looking after us as it chose to rain just then. Arrived in Markyate about 3.30pm.
Day 6 - Kings Langley to Tring (15.5 mi)
May 4, 2023, 4:47:46 AMAfter 5 days we have completed 83 miles. Out longest section is today (4th May). Kings Langley to Tring 15.5miles. Our thanks to Gordon very pleasant and leisurely lunch at The Black Horse, Bourne End resulted in a late finish (5.20pm). All four of us feeling good.
